In 2017 I was training for the Three Capes Hike in Tasmania, and I got hooked on bush walks and realised this was something I wanted to share with people, so Stella’s Horizon Adventures started but since it has had a slight name change Stellar Fitness Horizon Adventures.
Each month I choose a location, not too far out of Melbourne (some carpooling is available with me); I get cooking and prepare some snacks and everyone brings their lunch and choice of beverage (I’m still looking at having a coffee machine in my car).
These are the benefits of getting out in nature:
Walking in natural settings provides exercise that improves cardiovascular fitness, muscle strength, and endurance. It’s a low-impact activity that can be adapted to different fitness levels.
As we age social engagement is vital for our wellbeing. It is something that I try to incorporate in all facets of Stellar Fitness.
What do I need to bring?
- You will need to wear comfortable clothes and layer up. The benefit of layers is that you can remove a layer as you warm up.
- You will need a sunhat or beanie, and sunscreen depending on the season.
- At least 2 litres of water as some sites do not have water that is able to be consumed.
- A small backpack for your lunch and belongings. Try not to have too many things hanging off it, as it is meant to be an enjoyable bush walk.
- It is preferable to have hiking boots, if not the other option is to have sneakers with a good tread.
Walking poles
It is totally optional whether you have walking poles or not. Most of the walks that I organise will be of a medium grade.
These walks are ticketed events through our Humantix account. We like to give fees that we are charged, to a charity and we feel Humantix aligns with our values.
I look forward to meeting you soon.
Upcoming events
Our next Horizon Adventure will be Indented Heads to St Leonards on Sunday 17th November.
